"I will continuously build capacities in teaching so that I can impart quality education to my students”.
This is one of the Ten Point Oath for Teachers as given by Honarable Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. While going through these points, a thought came to me that to fulfill this oath it is necessary that there should be research and discussion on the various aspects of education. A search of panel for such research and discussion proved fruitless. An idea then sprang up that such a panel should be set up in the first place. We at South Point School decided to provide the city of Nagpur with a panel for such effective discussion. A maiden venture in the city of Nagpur, the project was huge but necessary. Therefore, South Point School in collaboration with Sunbeam and Nobel Publishers, New Delhi and Royal Gondwana Public School decided to convene a Conference for the Principals' and senior teachers, to provide them with a platform to discuss the various aspects of educating a child. Thus the first Principals' Educational Conference was born.
The first conference was planned on the theme "Total Quality Management In Education". TQM is not a concept limited only to commercial enterprises. In education, it has a very special significance, mostly because of the expansion of the range of the methods used to impact education. In accordance with the theme, six subjects where selected touching the various aspects of education .
The subjects where:
2) Importance of environmental studies in curriculum.
3) Use of Internet, Media and other high tech devices in teaching learning process.
4) Implementation of new evaluation system and recommendations.
5) Increasing behavioural / Adolescence problems role of Principal / Teacher.
6) Making education relevant to times and society.
We had received a panorama of view and opinion from the Principals. Workshop were organised by educationalist from all over the India. Conference was inaugurated at the hands of Honorable Dr. V. P. Gupta , Faculty Mathematics , NCERT New Delhi and Guest of Honour Honorable Shri Vijay Phanshikar, Editor, The Hitavada, the Valedictory function was chaired by Honorable Shri.
